New Lexington visitor's center now open
After years of construction, the new Lexington visitor's center downtown is finally open.
'We're very excited to offer our visitors a place to see and get a taste of Lexington and the Bluegrass region," said Julie Schickel, the center's manager.
The center used to be located in Victoria Square but now sits on the ground floor of the historic Fayette County courthouse on Main Street.
"I think a lot of people are curious to see the building," said Schickel.
Inside, visitors will find a tech-savvy center with a host of interactive exhibits, featuring information on Lexington's rich history in bourbon, the horse industry, and much more.
"You can see the media wall. We have some tablets that will give you some fun facts about different categories, and we have a fabulous digital postcard machine that's interactive," said Schickel.
The visitor's center will have its official ribbon cutting ceremony on June 14.
