A handful of Nicholasville businesses closed Tuesday unexpectedly and it was the talk of the town.

Nicholasville police confirmed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) performed an operation Tuesday morning.

Shortly thereafter, three Mexican restaurants closed during hours they would have normally been open.

Fiesta Mexico, Los Dos Amigos, and El Potrillo closed.

People stopped by the popular restaurants Tuesday night only to find the lights were off.

"Yeah this place is usually ... it would be packed if it was open," said Shane Whitaker, who visited Fiesta Mexico. "All of this parking lot would be packed."

Jarred Moore was supposed to meet his dad for dinner at one of the restaurants, but had to cancel.

"It just came out of the blue," Moore said. "Everybody comes here. There is never any trouble."

WKYT reached out to I.C.E., but our calls were not returned.

There is no word on when/if the restaurants will reopen.

Last summer, nearly 50 people were arrested in Kentucky as part of an I.C.E. operation.
