Occupy ICE protest, counter-protest in downtown Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WLKY) - An Occupy ICE protest is underway in downtown Louisville. A counter protest group is also present, and LMPD is warning there is a potential for violence.

Police set up barricades Saturday morning at Seventh Street and Broadway.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Occupy ICE protestors marched to the barricades at Seventh and Magazine streets waiting for counter protesters to arrive.
While the department has not received threats, Chief Steve Conrad said there's credible information some planning to protest will be armed.

Conrad said his command staff has created a safety plan. The plan includes using fencing and bike racks, as well as a line of officers to create a divide between the two groups.
