A tragic accident on I-65 in western Kentucky claimed one life late Saturday night.
The Smiths Grove Fire Department, Bowling Green Fire Department, along with Kentucky State Police, responded to a U-Haul truck that had become engulfed in flames while going south on I-65 near the 33 mile marker.
The accident happened around 11:00 p.m. Saturday night. First responders tried to rescue the victim who was trapped in the cab of the truck, but were not able to save the victim in time.
"And at this time we'll probably be sending the body up to Louisville for an autopsy, to help get some identification, of who the person is. So at this time we don't know who they are, whether they're male or female," Warren County Deputy Coroner David Goens said.
There were no other vehicles involved in the accident. Air Evac was initially called to the accident, but was eventually called off.
As of now, it is unclear how to the U-Haul truck crashed and caught fire.
