Owsley County homeowner kills man during robbery attempt
Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly shooting of an armed man in Owsley County.
Police received a call around five Tuesday morning from a homeowner on Kentucky 846. The homeowner told police he shot a man outside his front door.
State police say their initial investigation indicates that Jamie M. Farthing, 37 years old of Booneville, Charles Harris II, 42 years old of Booneville, and Linda Peters, 36 years old of Booneville, traveled to a home on HWY 846 on Tuesday morning and attempted to rob the homeowner.
Harris was allegedly armed with a handgun and was fatally shot by the homeowner near the front door of the residence. State Police say the homeowner fired after Harris pulled a gun on him.
Harris was pronounced dead at the scene by the Owsley County coroner.
Peters was also shot. She was taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital with non-life threatening injuries to her arm.
Farthing is charged with Robbery 1st degree. He is being held in the Three Forks Regional Jail.
The homeowner is not facing charges at this time.
