Two people were killed and one was seriously injured in a crash Wednesday morning on Versailles Road.

The Fayette County Coroner has identified the victims as Joseph Beemer, 76, and Cynthia Beemer, 73, of Paducah. The couple was pronounced dead at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. They died from multiple blunt force trauma, according to a release from the coroner. Both victims will be taken to the Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Wednesday on Versailles Road at the intersection of Rice Road.

Lexington police Lt. Kevin Metcalf said two pickup trucks hit head-on. One of the trucks was traveling inbound; the other was traveling outbound. The truck crossed the center line and collided with the truck in the outbound lane.

The coroner says charges could be pending against the other driver. No other information was released.
