The fire started at Eastern Kentucky Recycling on Savoy-Clear Creek Road around 11:30 a.m.

Eight fire departments have responded to battle the fire. When crews arrived a 20-foot pile of metal was on fire with heavy flames.

Crews have knocked down the fire, but it is not fully extinguished. The fire has caused heavy black smoke to spread in the area. Emergency managers are not calling for evacuations, but people are being asked to stay inside as a precaution.

Firefighters are expected to remain on scene for an extended period of time.
