LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - UPDATE 12/24/18 Louisville police release the name of the LMPD officer killed in a fiery crash Monday afternoon.
Officials identified the officer as Det. Deidre Mengedoht. Louisville Metro Police Department says she was conducting a traffic stop when a truck crashed into her cruiser.
The driver of that truck, Roger Burdette, 60 was arrested. He is charged with murder of a police officer and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

Louisville police say Mengedoht was trapped inside her burning cruiser after the crash. She died at the scene.
A Louisville Metro Police officer is dead after a crash on Interstate 64.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the crash happened near in between mile marker 4 and 5 on Interstate 64. The blockage is under the Belvedere near Third Street.
The interstate is shut down in both directions, and it could remain closed for hours.
