Pike County receives $636,000 grant to renovate old high school into housing

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - The Department for Local Government approved funding for a $ 636,000 Community Development Block Grant for Pike County.

Funds will be used to rehabilitate the old Elkhorn City High School. The renovation will take the approximately 35,000 sq foot facility and convert it into 27 low to moderate income apartment units.

This rehabilitation will allow the residents to preserve the former high school while creating safe, affordable housing for the community.
