Pikeville Police charge man with abusing camel at live nativity scene
Pikeville Police have cited a man in connection to an animal abuse investigation at a nativity scene.
Pikeville Police say they began investigating after being notified of a video recorded at the live Nativity Scene scene outside the Pikeville Medical Center.
Tiffany Sparks shared the video on Facebook. She said workers abused a camel at the nativity scene. Sparks says the camel was kicked and pulled to the ground.
After investigating, police cited Joseph Price of Jackson, Missouri for cruelty to animals. Price is an employee of 5H Ranch as a caretaker of the animals.
After contacting the owners of the animals, hospital officials said they canceled the contract with the animals' owners. They also say the employee responsible for the animal abuse was fired and all nativity showings are now canceled.
