LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Former Louisville Men's Basketball coach Rick Pitino has filed a lawsuit against the university.
The UofL Athletics Association fired Pitino in October after the school was linked to an FBI investigation involving bribes to recruits.
The Athletics Association fired Pitino with cause meaning they did not have to pay out his contract.
In the lawsuit, Pitino claims the athletics association did not give him proper notification as his contract required. He also claims they had no legal justification to fire him for cause.
Pitino is asking for $4.3 million a year through 2026.
