LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A Kentucky high school student is behind bars after police say he punched a 16-year-old girl three times, knocking her out.

WDRB reports Malachi Jefferson Claycomb was arrested after police say he punched the 16-year-old at Moore Traditional High School in Louisville.

Police say Claycomb's punched not only knocked out the girl, but she started convulsing after the attack. Claycomb was initially charged with a lesser charge, but it was upgraded to felony assault after a doctor said the girl may have suffered brain injuries since she had a seizure following the punch.

Jefferson County Public Schools said Claycomb will face disciplinary action from the district.
