WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WKYT) - Back to school usually means back to the doctor’s office, but police say something was off when one Williamsburg mother took her children in for their physicals.
Williamsburg police say Tracy Lewallen, 30, was under the influence of drugs while inside the local doctor’s office. She was arrested, and now faces charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and public intoxication.
Her behavior is what concerned the office staff, according to police.
"She would nod off, fall asleep at times, speech was very slurred,” Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird said.
When police later did a K9 search of Lewallen’s car, they say they found a small quantity of oxycodone pills, along with other prescription pills. Lewallen claimed ownership of the oxycodone pills, Chief Bird said.
Police say the man that Lewallen came with, Keith Jones, was also under the influence of drugs at the time. He was also arrested.
Police say Lewallen also had four active warrants for her arrest, and she tried to give the arresting officer a false name. Police believe Jones drove the group of four to the doctor’s office.
The two children that were with Lewallen and Jones are now in the custody of their father, according to police.
