Investigators think some road sign thefts in Madison County could be connected to the assault of a county highway worker.
State police say the worker was putting up a speed limit sign on Meadowbrook Road Tuesday afternoon, when someone driving by hit him with a cattle prod.
The worker wasn't seriously injured.
This comes after the Madison County Highway Department says $9,000 worth of road signs have been stolen this year.
The highway department also says they found a spray painted message on a road, that said, "It's on."
