A Winchester man is charged with murder after police say he watched his mother commit suicide and did nothing to stop it.

Police say they responded to a death investigation at an apartment on Oxford Drive Oct. 21 after a woman was found dead in a bedroom. Police interviewed the woman's son, 27-year-old Jeffrey Wisecup as a part of the investigation.

Wisecup's arrest citation says he told officers his mother wanted to commit suicide, and he watched her swallow pills and inject herself with many insulin pens. Wisecup told police he saw his mother seizing on the kitchen floor, and he dragged her back to her bed before going to sleep. When he woke up, he found his mother dead.

Police say Wisecup left his mother in her room for days as he made trips to work and the liquor store. Wisecup didn't call police until five days after her death.

Wisecup told officers he opened windows because of the odor.

Officers say he admitted he should have called 911 in an effort to save his mother's life.

Wisecup was booked in the Clark County Detention Center Friday where he is being held on no bond.
