LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A shooting on Walden Drive in Lexington sent one person to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
Officers say they were called to the location around 2 p.m. When they arrived, they found one person with a gunshot wound. They were taken to UK Hospital for treatment.
Two people were taken from the scene in handcuffs for questioning. They remain unidentified at this time.
Police on-the-scene say they are investigating if the shooting today has any connection to a shooting around the block on Laredo Drive. A Lexington teenager was shot in the foot during that shooting, after people in two cars reportedly opened fire on each other.
"What we want the folks in the neighborhood to know, because it's reasonable for them to be concerned with the shootings happening this close together" says Lt. Brotherton with the Lexington Police Department, "is that we're doing everything we can to make sure that they can feel safe in their homes, and that we want to make sure that they know that we don't believe that anyone should have to live in a neighborhood with shooting."
Police have been on-the-scene talking with neighbors and potential witnesses, but so far investigators have released very few details that would help paint a picture of what led up to the violence.
