Lexington police responded to a burglary at a barber shop on Southland Drive.

It happened Sunday morning.

Officers said someone used a sledgehammer to smash the front window of Southland Barber Shop, setting off the store's alarm.

Police said the suspect then pried open a locked cabinet in the back of the store and took the contents before leaving the scene. No word at this time on what was taken.

Officers said the burglary happened in a short window of time. A next-door business owner arrived at around 9:20 a.m. and told police she didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Officers said the store alarm went off at 9:36 a.m.

Investigators said the sledgehammer was found at the scene.

There are no suspects at this time.
