Frankfort police are responding to a shooting at East Frankfort Park that killed one and injured two.

Police responded to the park just before 6 p.m. Monday after receiving word of the shooting. When they arrived, they found a victim with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of the park.

The Franklin County Coroner's Office pronounced the victim, 25-year-old Anthony Hendrix Jr. of Cincinnati, dead after he was taken to Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Medical examiners will perform an autopsy.

Police said two other victims with gunshot wounds went to the hospital, and both are expected to survive. It is unknown if police have any suspects in the shooting.

Gov. Matt Bevin tweeted that Kentucky State Police are assisting local authorities and said the shooting was the result of the dispute.

Officers have blocked off the park and closed a gate at the entrance. The city-owned park has tennis courts, walking trails and a disc golf course.

One woman tells WKYT she was at the park practicing baseball with her family when she heard multiple shots fired and saw several people take off running.

WKYT has crews at the scene. This story will be updated.
