LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The Louisville Cardinals are expected to announce Appalachian State's Scott Satterfield to take over as head coach.
This comes days after Louisville was unable to hire former Cardinals quarterback and assistant Jeff Brohm to return to his hometown.
Satterfield is a very accomplished coach, as the Mountaineers have won three straight Sun Belt titles, including a victory Saturday over Louisiana in the Sun Belt Championship Game to reach 10 wins. Satterfield has led Appalachian State to five straight winning seasons since moving to the Football Bowl Subdivision. He is also 3-0 in bowl games.
The 45-year-old North Carolina native was a quarterback at Appalachian State from 1991-1995.
Satterfield takes over following Louisville's 2-10 season where head coach Bobby Petrino was fired midseason.
