LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Lexington restaurants are preparing for what is the second busiest day of the year.
Research suggests that 42 percent of couples will be dining out for Valentine's Day, and that means big business for the restaurant industry.
Malone's manager Brooke Hepler says the restaurant has been making special preparations.
"We take all of our large party tables out," says Hepler, "We move two-tops in and dress them with white linens. We use red napkins. Our tables have flower petals and candles to set the mood ."
Malone's says it had more than 400 reservations and more are expected to arrive.
At least one restaurant, Drake's, says it will cater to the Valentine's Day procrastinators. It has a first-come-first-serve policy.
Establishments are also preparing for a late-arriving crowd for those who are using Valentine's Day to watch the Kentucky men's basketball game against Auburn at 9 p.m.
The busiest day of the year for restaurants is Mother's Day.
