RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - Frisch's Big Boy is officially closing in Richmond after a day of uncertainty and speculation.
An employee tells WKYT the franchisee entered the restaurant Wednesday morning and said he didn't want to be in the business anymore. The restaurant is scheduled to close Sunday.
Employees invited the community to protest the burger joint's planned closing on Thursday.
"Our food is good, we treat our customers right, and we're like all a big family here so it's going to be really hard to see it go," said drive-thru employee Victoria Harrison before the reversal was made.
The Cincinnati-based chain says the franchisee only recently announced they wanted to close the diner. The corporate office said on Tuesday it was working to reopen the diner or open a different location in Richmond. It is unknown if that is still the case.
