Scott County church collecting clothing, food to send to Houston

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Pastor Chester Palmer felt a call on his heart when he saw images of flooded homes and stranded families in Houston.

"When you see all the rescues and the efforts that are going on, and people across the nation who are coming together to try to help with those initiatives, we just wanted to do a small part and help as best we could," said Pastor Palmer.

His church, Faith Way Church at Zion Hill, is working with the Georgetown Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff's Office to collect donations. They're looking for new or gently worn clothes and shoes, as well as brand new hygiene items and non-perishable food to send to Texas. They're accepting donations at the church, on Leestown Pike, Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Families can also drop off supplies at the Scott County Sheriff's Office and the Georgetown Police Department.

For more donation information, Pastor Palmer asks that you call Sister Anna Wilson at (859) 338.0404.
