Scott County voters asked to return to polls
So many voters turned up in Scott County that some precincts ran out of paper ballots.
Election officials equipped each precinct with an electronic voting machine. However, more voters than expected wanted to use a paper ballot. Officials ordered more paper ballots Tuesday morning, but by mid-day, some precincts had already run out.
Many voters opted not to vote rather than use the electronic machines and walked away from voting sites.
Around 2 p.m. new paper ballots were delivered to all precincts. The clerk's office is now urging people who left because of the shortage to come back and vote before the polls close at 6 p.m.
