Sleepy driver causes crash that shuts down I-64 in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman and her passenger are safe after a crash on Interstate 64 in Lexington.

The crash happened around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes near mile marker 85.

The driver of a car told police she fell asleep at the wheel. Her car crashed into a pickup, causing her vehicle to overturn.

She and her passenger were able to get out safely. The other driver was not hurt.

The westbound lanes of I-64 were shut down for about 45 minutes.
