Slick roads cause wrecks, shut down major roads

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Drivers all around Lexington had a slow commute early Monday due to icy conditions from Sunday night's wintry weather.

Between midnight and 8 a.m., the Lexington Police Department says they responded to two injury crashes and 51 non-injury crashes.

Some of these wrecks shut down portions of Todds Road and Leestown Road.

Along with icy conditions causing wrecks, it also caused Fayette County schools to be put on a two hour delay to allow roads to be cleared before sending buses out to pick up students.

All city-owned golf courses were also closed for the day on Monday.
