LONDON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police are expecting to be very busy over the next three days as more people head out for the Labor Day holiday weekend.
Many travelers, like Greg Hoskins, are heading to southern Kentucky to enjoy some outdoor recreation. Hoskins is traveling to Laurel Lake to cool off on what should be a hot and humid summer. Troopers say they are expecting a big increase in similar travelers, especially on Interstate highways.
"We will be stepping up patrols in those areas, in high crash areas looking for distracted drivers, drivers under the influence of alcohol, or drugs," Trooper Lloyd Cochran said.
You can expect more patrol vehicles on Interstate 75 in Laurel, Whitley and Rockcastle Counties as a result.
Troopers say they will also step up enforcement to make sure drivers are wearing their seat belts.
