LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Steve Kay will return to his post as Lexington’s vice mayor following a win over five other council at-large candidates.
This will be Kay’s second four-year term as Vice Mayor. The at-large candidate who garners the most votes on Election Day is named the city’s vice mayor.
Mayor Jim Gray endorsed Kay for the top at-large seat, something he has not previously done in his eight years as mayor.
Kay will be serving his term alongside Linda Gorton who was just voted in as Lexington’s next mayor. Gray did not seek a third term in office to attempt a bid for Congress.
At-large Councilman Richard Moloney and former councilman Chuck Ellinger were also elected to fill the council’s two remaining at-large seats.
