Study: Lexington 5th best college basketball city

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A new study shows Lexington ranks in the top 5 for the best college basketball cities in the country.

The study, compiled by WalletHub,breaks down the 289 U.S. cities with at least one Division 1 NCAA basketball program. Some of the metrics it used include number of teams, performance level, championships, minimum season ticket price and fan engagement.

Chapel Hill, North Carolina, which is home to the University of North Carolina, topped the list. Lawrence, Kansas was second, while Los Angeles, California was third. Durham, North Carolina was fourth followed by Lexington.

Other Kentucky cities on the list include Louisville (27), Murray (48), Highland Heights (92), Richmond (112), Bowling Green (115) and Morehead (157).

Lexington did finish first when it comes to highest minimum season ticket price for a college basketball game.
