Police in Boyle County are searching for a suspect after someone nearly sent a business up in flames.

Danville police say they received a call just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday about someone trying to set fire to the business on Wilderness Road.

Surveillance video shows someone putting what police say is a camp torch near the business, which is run out of a home.

The fire department responded and put the small fire out.

Police are still trying to identify the person in the video.

Attempted Arson

On 10/29/2019 at approximately 9:47 pm, officers of the Danville Police Department responded to 227 Wilderness Road for a report of criminal mischief to a house. Danville Dispatch advised that the caller stated that someone attempted to set fire to the house. Upon arrival, officers were advised that a camp torch had been set with the flame touching the siding of the house. Officers immediately contacted the Danville Fire Department who responded and aided with extinguishing the small fire. The house, which is used as a business only, was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Video surveillance reveals an unknown subject walking up to the house and lighting the torch, before sitting the torch against the house and leaving the property. The identity of the subject is unknown at this time. Officer Morris and Detective Paul Megilligan are the investigating officers.
