Police arrested Rekiethieus Wesley, 28, Juanita Durrum, 25, Morgan Crutchfield, 23, Bricelyn Leak, 18, and Leroy Love.

They face charges of murder and robbery in connection to the deaths of Dustin Johnson, 24, and Jared Moore, 22.

The two young men were found shot to death June 26 at a home on Alexander Street in Frankfort.

“You go where the case leads you,” Frankfort Police Chief Travis Ellis said at a news conference Friday. “When it gets hot, it picks up, you take off with it and that's what's happened the last 24 hours. This has really picked up and taken off.”

More arrests are possible in connection to the murders, Ellis said.

At least two of the five people arrested will likely face charges in connection to other recent crimes in the area, Ellis said.

Frankfort Police worked with Lawrenceburg Police and Kentucky State Police to make the arrests.

Julie Hedges and her aunt, Lizzie Smith, said things have not been the same since the murders in their neighborhood

“Oh honey, I cry every day over this,” Lizzie said. “I won't even come out of my house.”

Julie said, “I can't even trust for my child to be in a pool in a yard because I'm petrified of what could happen.”

Both women said Friday they are relieved to hear that arrests have been made.

“It gave me hope for their families at least getting some type of justice,” Julie said.

Lizzie said, “I'm happy they got them because I can trust my grandkids coming outside.”
