Tates Creek Middle School letter a class project, not an extra fee for paper usage

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Fayette County Public Schools says a letter circulating around on social media announcing a charge for paper usage is a class project and not an actual policy.

The letter states because of a lack of funds, Tates Creek Middle School cannot provide important items. It goes on to say students will be responsible for paying for their handouts and assignments. One example provided in the letter included a 10 cent fee for paper used to offset copier costs.

The district says the paper was part of a lesson on taxation which has been conducted for about a decade.

Teachers have emailed parents to help eliminate any confusion.
