White-Rodgers is recalling thousands of thermostats because of a potential fire hazard.

The recall involves 135,000 thermostats. Affected thermostats will have the word "Emerson" printed on the front, and a date code from 1416 to 1536 on the back.

The recall happened because contact between the thermostat wires and household line voltage can damage the thermostat, posing a fire hazard. White-Rodgers says they have received eight reports of burn damage to the thermostats, involving minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The products were sold at Johnstone, Home Depot and other retailers.
