LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - There are millions of dollars on the line in two nationwide lottery drawings this week. Tuesday night's Mega Millions jackpot is valued at $350 million with a cash option amount of $216.1 million. Wednesday night's Powerball jackpot sits at $307 million, with a $193.2 million jackpot.
Rodney Munford, Vice President at the Estepp Shell in Hamburg ,says when jackpots start climbing, he makes sure his employees are on their A-game.
"You see an increase in traffic, and you've gotta plan for it and make sure you can accommodate the customers the right way."
When jackpots get this high, everybody starts talking about the lottery.
"Gives a little bit of energy with our customers and employees as far as good conversation. You end up talking about what you would do if you won and anytime you can put a smile on somebody's face and have good conversation, it's always a plus," Munford said.
Tickets for Mega Millions are $1 each and players can choose their numbers or the quick pick option. Powerball players have the same options, but tickets are $2 each.
According to the Kentucky Lottery, if a player chooses to take the annuity payment for either game, it would be paid out with one immediate payment followed by 29 graduated annual payments, each payment larger than the previous one.
