BEREA, Ky. (WKYT) - The man hit and killed by a train Monday morning in Berea has been identified.

Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison says the victim is Douglas James Lacy, 38, of Berea KY. Lacy was formerly a resident of Georgia but had been living in Kentucky for the last few years.

According to Berea Police Lieutenant Jake Reed, police received a call right after midnight about a man being hit by a CSX train near Mayde Road.

Reed said it was possible the man was homeless and sleeping on the train tracks.

The area is hard to get to, which caused some difficulties in the investigation. It's near several factories close to Berea, such as Hitachi.
