WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - The funeral for the 4-year-old boy killed in a collision near Kroger Field is taking place Monday afternoon.
Marco Lee Shemwell died from multiple blunt force injuries Sept. 17 at 4:09, two days after police say a car driven by Jacob Heil hit him while he was standing on the side of the road on Cooper Drive.
Shemwell, of Winchester, Kentucky, died at UK Medical Center. The manner of death is still pending, as Lexington police continue to investigate the case.
18-year-old Jacob Heil is currently charged with DUI in the collision.
Calvary Christian Church is live streaming funeral services for Shemwell. Members of the Kentucky football team, including head coach Mark Stoops, will be honorary pallbearers.
