Webasto to add 183 jobs in Lexington with new production line
Lexington employer Webasto says it will add a new production line, bringing 183 new jobs to the city.
The sunroof supplier announced a $15.2 million investment Thursday for the production line, which will manufacture panorama roof systems.
“Before the end of the year we will launch three completely new sunroofs with two different customers. These launches will continue into next year with increased volumes,” Webasto Roof Systems plant manager John Wilder said, “Our technology is some of the best offered by any manufacturers anywhere in the world, these are truly exciting times for Webasto and our Kentucky family.”
The Michigan company already employs 572 workers, and the expansion should complete in two years.
The state preliminarily approved $2 million in tax incentives for the investment.
