Family says prayers answered following indictment in 2016 Breathitt County murder

JACKSON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police have arrested a suspect more than a year after the death of a Breathitt County woman.

Investigators charged Imojean Daniels with murder. A grand jury indicted her on Thursday. According to the indictment, Daniels shot and killed Joy Turner on or around September 1, 2016.

Turner's sisters told WKYT Daniels' arrest was an answer to their prayers.

"She has put our family through the wringer. This has just brought us a lot of peace," said Toi Dean.

Turner's parents found her body in a mobile home on Longs Creek Road. Her roommates told investigators Turner committed suicide. Dean says her family knew right away Joy didn't kill herself. State Police say while they initially filed the incident as a suicide, they also didn't quite believe the apparent gunshot wound was self-inflicted. Police have not said why they think the murder happened.

"My sister trusted this person. She thought this person was her friend," Dean said.
