The coroner tells WKYT the victim is Michael Edwards, 49, of Lexington. He says Edwards was walking in the northbound emergency lane when he was hit.

The crash happened just after 6 a.m. at the 122-mile marker. That's between the Iron Works Pike and Paris Pike exits.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office told WKYT the driver first pulled off to the shoulder. The driver was then merging back onto the interstate and looking over his shoulder when he realized he hit someone.

The driver is not facing any charges. No one else was hurt in the crash.
