Bama hires Oats as men's basketball coach

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WKYT) - Nate Oats is the new men’s basketball coach at Alabama.

Oats, who was 96-43 at Buffalo in four seasons, replaces Avery Johnson, the school announced on Wednesday.

Oats recently signed an extension at Buffalo after leading the Bulls to three NCAA Tournaments and winning two games in the tournament the past two seasons.

Just six years ago Oats was teaching and coaching in high school.
