LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Over the weekend, Kentuckian Josh Teater earned his PGA card in a second place finish in the Web.com Tour's Ellie Mae Classic. Teater shot 67 in the final round to finish at 19 under in the tournament.
The top 25 finishers on the Web.com Tour money list at the end of the regular season earn PGA cards for the next year, and with the $64,000 Teater won in the Ellie Classic he's now 13th on that list.
An emotional Teater said Sunday, "I've kind of been working at it for three years, so I've been close but it's good to be there. I honestly feel like I played good enough. If I was on the tour the last two or three years I probably would've kept my card, but getting there has been the hardest part I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing and try to find myself in these positions more often out there."
