LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky Wildcats are preparing for one of their toughest tests of the season as they travel to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies.
No. 13 Kentucky (5-0, 3-0 SEC) is looking to become bowl eligible for the third straight year, but the Wildcats have bigger goals going into this pivotal conference matchup. The team is looking to stay atop the SEC East standings, as a home matchup against Georgia in November could determine the division.
Texas A&M (3-2, 1-1 SEC) is already battle-tested after playing Clemson and Alabama in September in losing efforts. The Aggies are as much as a 6-point favorite in this game, and they are looking to build some momentum after defeating Arkansas last week.
Kentucky is rated as one of the top defensive teams in the country, but the Wildcats will be tested against quarterback Kellen Mond, who was productive against Clemson and Alabama in losing efforts. Texas A&M will look to slow down Kentucky's running game, which ranks sixth in yards per rushing attempt and yards per game. Kentucky RB Benny Snell is ranked third in rushing yards while Texas A&M RB Trayveon Williams ranks eighth.
The game airs at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
