UK's JJ Williams named athlete of the week
With most of the Big Blue Nation focused on the start of basketball season and the football team's success, the UK men's soccer team is quietly having a fantastic season with eleven wins, one loss, and one tie.
"We go around telling everybody it's a soccer school now," joked UK forward JJ Williams. "That's what we have to do now. It's been great. Big Blue Nation has stepped up."
The main catalyst to the Wildcats success is JJ c He says he remembers the misses more than he makes.
"I mean last game I let one slip and the whole time I was just; I got to get the next chance. I got to get the next chance, and that's one of the main things about even if you miss a chance," said Williams. "There's going to be more to come. There's going to be time for you to put yourself and your teammates in position to score, but I'm just focused on making sure I make the most of every opportunity and thankfully I've been able to finish so far."
Kentucky currently sits in a three-way tie atop the Conference USA standings and already has impressive wins over soccer powerhouses Indiana and Louisville.
"I think if we continue to take care of business, hopefully, we get a top spot going into the tournament and Big Blue Nation if they come out and support, this is a tough place to play," said Williams. "So I think we can make a deep run in the tournament and hopefully go make some more history."
