LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - One of Kentucky's top players has suffered an injury setback just days before the Wildcats play their first SEC Tournament game.
A UK spokesperson confirms to @WKYT that Jarred Vanderbilt was injured in practice yesterday. He is not expected to practice today but is day-to-day for the SEC Tournament according to UK the latest on WKYT & https://t.co/8owqcZtW1i— Dave Buzz Baker (@buzzbaker) March 7, 2018
This comes as Vanderbilt was playing some of his best basketball of the season. He earned SEC freshman of the week honors in late February after averaging a double-double in games against Arkansas and Missouri.
Vanderbilt is averaging six points and eight rebounds per game this season.
He has time to heal, as Kentucky is not scheduled to play in the SEC Tournament until Friday against Missouri or the Georgia/Vanderbilt winner.
