SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WKYT) - Kentucky men's basketball coach John Calipari received the Naismith Hall of Fame "Service Above Self" award Thursday.
Calipari received the award at the hall of fame in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Hall of Fame recognized Calipari for his philanthropic work and service.
Calipari has raised millions for charitable causes, and he hosted telethons on WKYT in 2010, 2012 and 2017 to help victims of the Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Sandy and Hurricane Harvey.
He co-founded the Calipari Foundation with his wife Ellen to help children, teaming with organizations like Samaritan's Feet.
Previous winners include Jim Calhoun, Vinny Del Negro and Rebecca Lobo.
