LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - John Calipari is set to be honored as a “Service Above Self” award winner at an upcoming event hosted by the Basketball Hall of Fame.

The award will be presented to Calipari Nov. 15 at an annual awards luncheon in Springfield, Massachusetts. The award is intended to highlight remarkable individuals in Western Massachusetts and basketball who exemplify the values of service.

Calipari will be honored alongside Jeb Balise, a Massachusetts resident whose family business has displayed a commitment to community service.

"We're very pleased to be recognizing Jeb Balise and John Calipari for their outstanding philanthropic work and service to others," said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. "On a regional, national and even global scale, their impact can be seen and felt.”

Calipari is also a recipient of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. His philanthropic contributions include helping to raise millions of dollars for charity through telethons, and even starting “The Calipari Foundation” to support communities by enriching the lives of children.
