LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Kentucky Wildcats will be eyeing a convincing win Friday as they will face a Tennessee State team still looking for their first Division I victory this season.
The Tennesee State Tigers (2-3) have won games against lower-division opponents, but they have given up at least 80 points in their losses to Lipscomb, Arkansas-Little Rock and Cal State Northridge.
The No. 10 Wildcats (4-1) have yet to lose a game since their season-opening loss against No. 1 Duke. Their most recent performance was a comfortable 87-74 victory over perennial Big South contender Winthrop.
Tennessee State is not projected to contend for an Ohio Valley Conference championship, ranking eighth in the conference preseason poll.
Kentucky will look to improve their perimeter defending, as the team has given up 32 three-pointers in their last two games.
The Wildcats have shown to produce many scoring threats, as three players are within one point of leading the team in points per game. Sophomore PJ Washington, who led Kentucky with 19 points against Winthrop, is leading the team with 14.8 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Rupp Arena. The game will air on the SEC Network.
