Kentucky holds first Citrus Bowl practice in Orlando
Mark Stoops wants his Kentucky Wildcats to enjoy the trip to Orlando, Florida but not forget why they are there. On Thursday afternoon UK held its first practice at West Orange High School in preparation for their Citrus Bowl matchup with Penn State.
"We had a little bit of free time this morning and I encouraged the players to get out and enjoy the sun and get around the pool before we got started with practice," said Stoops. "They're going to go to some of the (Disney) theme parks here tonight, but I encouraged them to get out and this morning there was a bunch of guys out there (around the pool).
Kentucky is playing in its third straight bowl game, and Stoops knows what a tenth win would mean to the program.
"Without a doubt, I think that's a big piece of it to get down here and play well and get that tenth victory," said Stoops. "I want them to enjoy this experience when we get free time, enjoy it and take care of themselves but when it's time to get in meetings and practice, I want them to really be locked in and really be energized and they really got off to a good start today. So I feel good about that but it is important to find that balance and to get that energy that it takes to win."
Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. WKYT will have live coverage from Orlando starting Friday.
