LCA football reloads for 2018 season
No huddle, no mercy. That's the motto at LCA.
"You know, no huddle no mercy is still the foundation, and we're going to be going tempo and getting up and down the field as much as we possibly can," said coach Ethan Atchley. "You know at the same time we may be in a little more two back from time to time."
The Eagles graduated quite a few key players after last season, including running back Dillon Wheatley, but they have found plenty of talent in their freshmen class.
"So far it's been a bunch of freshmen stepping into a bunch of key roles and not really out of necessity but necessity and an uber talented bunch," said Atchley.
LCA does return its two leading tacklers from last season in Kaleb Bolton and Blane Hardin.
"You know we're always known as a high powered offense, but our defense this year is going to have to take up that role," said linebacker Blane Hardin. "Not that we aren't going to score 40 in a lot of games, but I just think sometimes we might have to make a game where it's 28-17 instead of 40-10.
"You know we may play a little more defense in terms of kicking the ball to people instead of taking the ball every time like we have in the past," said Atchley.
Jaden Barnhart takes over at quarterback, after playing defense last season.
"If he throws for a thousand or he rushes for a thousand or he hands it off for two running backs to get a thousand, he doesn't really care," said Atchley. "As long as we go win and the Eagles have more points at the end of the night."
