Logan Woodside selected in inaugural Alliance of American Football draft

SAN ANTONIO, Tex. (WKYT) - Franklin Co. product Logan Woodside was selected on Tuesday night of the inaugural American Alliance of Football “Protect or Pick” quarterback draft.

The San Antonio Commanders chose Woodside with the first pick in the third round.

Woodside threw for 10,514 yards and 93 touchdowns during his career at Toledo.

The 2017 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, Woodside was a seventh round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The AAF begins play in eight cities in February. Since rosters are regionally based, teams were assigned players in the offseason. The franchises wanted flexibility with the quarterback position, which is how the “Protect or Pick” draft originated.

All eight teams were given the chance, before the draft, to protect a quarterback on its roster.

After being released by the Bengals, Woodside was signed to the Tennessee Titans practice squad.
