Male handles Scott County 37-20 to win 6A state title

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -- After a weather delay at Kroger Field, Male hit the field and topped Scott County in Saturday's 6A state championship game.

Male built a 9-0 lead after the first quarter before Bronson Brown scored Scott County's first touchdown to cut the lead to 9-7.

Garrett Dennis then scored two touchdowns for the Bulldogs before halftime to give Male the 23-7 lead at the break.

In the third quarter, Brown continued his special night with his second touchdown to put the Cardinals within reach at 23-13. Freshman Vincel Anthony gave Male an early lead in the fourth quarter at 30-13 before Brown completed his hat trick with his third score of the night.

The Cardinals cut the lead to 30-20 with 7:50 left in the game, but they could never surge back in front.

The Cardinals end their season with a 11-4 record, while the Bulldogs end 2018 as champs with a 14-1 record.
